The Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Diversity and Inclusion was established in 2014 to work in close collaboration with the University's academic and administrative units to attract, advance, and retain a diverse faculty, so that the University can more closely reflect the national pools of qualified candidates. The Office facilitates faculty development, diversity, and planning initiatives with an emphasis on creating a welcoming and inclusive climate at the University.
The Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Diversity and Inclusion:
- Serves as a resource to Schools and Departments on programs to enhance Columbia as a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive academic community.
- Supports the establishment of data-driven plans to identify where initiatives are needed to improve faculty recruitment, development, and retention, and to track progress.
- Create programs, in collaboration with Columbia’s academic and administrative units, to promote faculty development and success.
The Office extends the diversity mission of the Office of the Vice Provost for Diversity Initiatives and the Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Planning.
